Dress for Success Black Hills - South Dakota is dedicated to promoting the economic independence of economically disadvantaged women by helping them attain and retain employment. They provide employment search resources, professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. All of their programs are provided free of charge.
Due to the pandemic, Dress for Success expressed the need for PPE and cleaning supplies to protect clients and volunteers in order to keep providing their services. They also expressed the need to expand their pre-employment and networking services for clients to access virtually by purchasing equipment such as laptops and zoom features.
Dress for Success was awarded a $4,500 grant through the UNITED We Stand COVID-19 Relief fund to purchase PPE for staff and clients, and also to purchase the equipment to provide distance training, education and networking opportunities for their clients searching for jobs.
With the help of this grant and purchasing the necessary supplies, Dress for Success was able to serve 12 clients by getting them both the clothing and virtual training to prepare for a job.
To be eligible for their services, clients must be referred by one of their listed partner agencies. Dress for Success partners with a variety of our other funded agencies to ensure that the client receives all the services they need in order to return to work. Some of the organizations they partner with that we also fund include: Youth and Family Services, WAVI, Catholic Social Services, The Artemis House, Lutheran Social Services and the Community Health Center of the Black Hills.
