This funding is aligned with our 2019 Community Needs Assessment. We highly recommend you read it to decide if your program aligns with this funding opportunity. You can find the needs assessment at https://www.unitedwayblackhills.org/community-needs-assessment.

This is a brand-new grant opportunity from UWBH, therefore there is no typical grant amount yet. There is no minimum/maximum amount to apply for.

Funding is for one year

Grant awards will be announced and notifications sent in May 2022.  Funding runs from 6/1/22 through 5/1/23 and will be paid on a monthly basis.

The UWBH Board and Cabinet members will evaluate all applications and determine the grant funding during the summer.

Yes, volunteers who review the applications will be from the community you serve.  But, we do have new volunteers every year who may not be as familiar with your program.

This is the only one planned at this time. There is a chance we may offer small grants later in the year tied to Black Hills Reads or Mental Health, but they aren’t planned now. I would strongly recommend that you apply for this opportunity as if it is the only one.

No, an annual audit is not required but you will need to explain why you don't conduct one and share what internal controls your agency has in place.

Yes. If you are using this as a match be sure to mention that in the narrative so that the volunteers evaluating your application can see how you are leveraging UW funds to bring additional funds to your program.
