Black Hills Fox - United Way Still working on goal December 21, 2012
Members of the United Way of the Black Hills are down to the wire when it comes to collecting donations. This year, the organization has raised almost $2.2 million during its annual fundraising campaign, but that's still just under $100,000 short of the annual goal.
Thursday evening members of the United Way gathered at the Dahl Arts Center to hold a holiday get-together in honor of their many volunteers. Executive Director Renee Parker says without the community and their volunteers, none of this would be possible.
Parker says, "It's so gratifying to see that when people learn that we are behind, they know how many organizations are supported by the United Way, they have just been stepping up, sending in their checks. Many of them are going back to their employees and asking them 'If you haven't made a donation, would you please consider a payroll deduction donation?'"
The organization will be raising money until December 31st. All funds raised go back to support more than 50 non-profits throughout our region.
