Fundraising extension pays off for United Way of Black Hills January 7, 2013
In a first ever extension, the United Way exceeded its fundraising goal for the year!
Executive Director, Renee Parker says being short of goal was simply unacceptable. It would have meant significant funding cuts for the 52 organizations across the Black Hills.
By extending the fundraising deadline by four days, Parker says numerous businesses and volunteers were able to gather the needed funds.
"I can't tell you how much it means. I just can't because when we go out and visit with these 52 organizations and we see the tremendous need that exists, and to know how valued those dollars are, it means everything to me," says Parker.
During the final hour on Friday, Parker says Scheels Sporting Goods pledged to match all donations up to $5,400 dollars, putting the Rapid City area ahead of its goal.
